Local information |
Both Loops '11 and Workshops Loops '11 will take place in the Castle hotel Třešť, in a small town in the beautiful countryside of the Vysočina region, about 150 km from Prague and 100 km from Brno.
The region is very well known for its picturesque towns and villages (such as the town of Telč), and excellent hiking and biking opportunities. We recommend to check the hotel's list of tips for trips. You can also look at pictures from our 2008 conference held in Třešť to see what you can expect on and around the conference site.
All participants are welcome to enjoy hospitality of the castle hotel (Třešť is a rather small town and, as such, it offers little alternatives anyway). This is a comfortable hotel located in a 16th century castle, rebuild in early 1990's to a conference center of the Czech Academy of Sciences. It offers a limited number of single rooms and a larger number of double rooms. Please note that single rooms may not be available after the early registration deadline.
There is an internet connection in the hotel (wireless in public, cable in many rooms). The participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop.
The departure on Wednesday, July 20, will be organized from the math department building, Sokolovska 83, Praha, very close to the subway station and tram stops called "Krizikova" (note that googlemap shows an incorrect place). There will be a guarded room where you can store your luggage etc., open since about 10am. The conference bus will leave at 5:15pm from a nearby bus stand, in front of hotel IBIS. We shall gather at 5pm in front of the department building and walk there together (about 200m). If you are in a hurry, take a taxi directly to the hotel "IBIS Karlin" (Šaldova 54).
Due to the lack of interest, there will be no official transportation on Sunday, July 24. Should you need help, do not hesistate to contact us.
The return bus will depart from Třešť for Prague on July 28 at about 9am. The trip takes over 2 hours.
It is also easy to reach Třešť on your own. By car, it takes about two hours to drive there from Prague, Bratislava or Vienna. There is an extensive bus and train connection from Prague and Brno to the nearby city of Jihlava, the capital of the Vysočina region, and a reasonably frequent local connection between Jihlava and Třešť. We are ready to offer assistance to anybody who will need additional travel information. You may find useful a website that covers all public transportation within Czech Republic (note the switches to English and German versions in the bottom right corner).
You can arrive any time in the afternoon. Pick up a key from your room at the reception. Dinner on Wednesday will be served at 8pm (after the arrival of the bus). Dinner on other days will be served at 7pm.
Registration for the conference is scheduled the following way:
Prague has a dense, inexpensive and safe public transportation (buses, trams, subway). The Prague transportation authority maintains a website with an online timetable, information on fares etc. To search for a connection, use "Letiste Ruzyne" for the airport, "Hlavni nadrazi" for the main railway station, "Florenc" for the central bus station, and "Krizikova" for the mathematics department. The airport authority maintains a website with an information how to reach (and leave) the airport by all means of transport. To use public transport, you need to buy a ticket in advance. Tickets are sold in vending machines at all subway stations, at the airport, and elswhere.
