Workshop on Clifford analysis and Differential geometry

held on the occasion of Vladimír Souček's 65th birthday

All lectures will be held at the lecture room K3 on the second floor. There is a blackboard (chalks are used) and a beamer. A laptop will be provided by us or you can use your own.

The building is located a few steps from the metro Křižíkova on the yellow line B and there is also a tram stop directly in front of the building, served by lines 8 and 24.

Accommodation:

Most participants will be lodged at hotel IBIS, street Šaldova 13. The hotel is located at the corner of Sokolovská and Šaldova streets, and only about 300 metres from the faculty building, therefore it is an easy walk. Breakfast is usually included in the hotel room price.

How to get there:
By taxi: tell the driver "hotel IBIS, Šaldova" (pronounced Shaldova), since there are more IBIS hotels in the city.
By public transport:
a) from the airport: take bus No. 100 (runs every 15 minutes on weekdays from 6 to 19 and every 30 minutes from 19 to 23:30) to metro Zličín, which is on the yellow line B, and take the metro B to Křižíkova, from there walk 200m to the hotel.
b) from the main railway station: take metro C to Florenc (1 stop), from here take tramway 8 or 24 directly to the stop Urxova, which is directly in front of the hotel (the previous stop is Křižíkova - i.e. the faculty).
All above-mentioned journeys can be done with a single ticket, it is the so-called transfer ticket for 26 CZK, which is available at ticket machines for coins or at most newspaper stands.

Lunches:

Every participant pays for his/her lunch in one of the restaurants in the near surroundings.

There is a plenty of small restaurants in the surroundings. We can recommend:

Friday evening - excursion & banquet:

The friday evening programme consists of two parts held on one place - the Malá Strana building of our faculty. The building is located at Malostranské náměstí 25 (see map), at the very historic heart of Prague. The baroque building dates from the 17th century and its history is connected with the jesuit order.

The first event is therefore a short excursion to the building, given by prof. Jiří Veselý, a colleague from our faculty.

The second part is a banquet at the restaurant Profesní dům, located at the underground part of the building.

All participants are warmly invited to both events. The excursion is free of charge, the price of the banquet is 50 euro (for self-paying participants), the money will be collected on Friday morning during the workshop.

We will organize a common journey by public transport form the Karlín building (where the workshop is held) to the Malá strana building. Exact time and meeting point will be announced during the workshop. However, if you wish to travel independently, you can either take a taxi or go by public transport: from Křižíkova take metro B to Národní třída (4 stops in direction Zličín), here take the tramway 22 to Malostranské náměstí (4 stops in direction Bílá hora). This journey takes approx. 20 minutes.
