PuTTY and Xming
- Download and install PuTTY (leave the default options selected during installation)
PuTTY
- Download and install Xming (leave the default options selected during installation)
Xming
- After installing Xming, a window will appear asking whether you want to start Xming – confirm that you want to start it
- In the next window, allow access to both private and public networks
- Start PuTTY and:
- Enter
hill.karlin.mff.cuni.cz as the Host Name
- In the left-hand menu, find SSH and click the small +
- Select X11
- Check Enable X11 forwarding
- Return to the first item in the left-hand menu (Session)
- Enter HILL in the Saved Sessions field and click Save
- Select HILL if it is not already selected and click Open
- When connecting for the first time, a warning will appear: PuTTY Security Alert
The host key is not cached for this server
Click Accept. PuTTY will then prompt you to enter your username and password.
- For subsequent connections, simply start Xming and PuTTY, then double-click HILL (and enter your username and password).
