Loops'99
Why ?
We feel that the number of new results in loops theory is steadily increasing and that many of them deserve wider dissemination than is the case now. This is the main reason why we have decided to organize a conference on loops theory. It seems that the idea of such a conference has wide support among loops theorists.
When ?
July 27, 1999 (arrival day)-August 1, 1999 (departure day)
Where ?
The conference will take place on the campus of the Czech University of Agriculture in Prague, Czech Republic (click here for detailed plan of the location).
Topics ?
The scientific programme, which will include general (discrete) loops as well as continuous loops, will begin on Wednesday, July 28, and end on Saturday, July 31.
Here you can find titles of those talks that have been already communicated to the organizers. You can also download book of abstracts in a version of June 21, 1999, in PostScript format.Who ?
The organizator's list is here:
Program Committee Organizing Committee Hala Pflugfelder (honorary chairman) Tomas Kepka Ales Drapal (local chairman) Petr Nemec Orin Chein (algebraic loops) John D. Phillips Michael Kinyon (continuous loops) The following list contains names of those who have expressed their intention to visit the conference with reasonably high probability by Jun 20, 1999: Any inquiries concerning the conference should be directed to loops99@karlin.mff.cuni.cz.
Proceedings and Abstracts
The Proceedings of the conference will be published in the form of an issue of the journal Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae (CMUC), a quarterly journal founded by Eduard Cech and published by the Mathematical Institute of Charles University. The journal usually publishes short research articles, and manuscripts exceeding 20 pages are accepted only rarely. For the purpose of the conference a limited number of survey articles will be welcomed as well. However, if you intend to write a long survey paper, you should first consult with the program committee.
All papers will be subjected to the usual referee process. In case the number of papers recommended by the referees would exceed the capacity of the volume, some authors might be asked to agree to publish their paper in one of the next issues of CMUC (each issue has about 200 pages).
The deadline for submissions is October 15, 1999. As we expect to have the volume published in the first half of 2000, there will be very little room for late submissions. Each author will receive thirty reprints for free. The participants of the conference may purchase the whole volume for a special price of five dollars (which will be paid together with the conference fee. It will be probably possible to buy more than one copy, and these further copies will be charged ten dollars each). Authors not using TeX are asked to send their contributions before September 30, 1999. To conform to the style of CMUC, please consult its web site
http://www.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/cmuc/cmucemis/cmucemis.htmBesides the proceedings volume we shall also prepare a booklet of abstracts that will be available during the conference. All participants are encouraged to send a one-page TeX abstract by e-mail to loops99@karlin.mff.cuni.cz (For this purpose, your TeX need not be plain, but it should be simple!) The deadline for abstracts is June 15, 1999.
How much ?
The price of accommodation (in well-equipped student dormitories) will be approximately $15 per person per night in a double room and in a single room (these prices may change). The conference fee is $50 (paid on arrival). If you are interested in this conference and wish to obtain further information, please contact us at loops99@karlin.mff.cuni.cz..However, you may, of course, contact also any member of the organizing committee:
